It is the time of the year when cultural fests are organized by students all over India and the campuses ring with the sound of music, dance, debates and more. NIT, Warangal is organizing the SpringSpree in February and for the very first time in Warangal, the city of a 1000 pillars, KK will perform in concert.  SpringSpree, sometimes written as Spring Spree is also popularly known as Spree, is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal.

SpringSpree was started in the year 1978 by the students of National Institute of Technology, Warangal. It started as an inter-collegiate annual sports and cultural event held between January and March every year. The cultural fest was a way to showcase the talent from other regions in India. SpringSpree was the first college festival in southern India and was conducted every year till the end of the 90s. SpringSpree was not conducted for a few years in the early 2000s.

Its revival was gradual and started with a mini cultural festival called Elysium in 2006. In 2007 SpringSpree once again began as a annual event. SpringSpree is one of the largest cultural fests of South India.

This year’s SpringSpree promises to be exciting with the addition of more events. SpringSpree conducts over 55 events in a span of 3 days, with various events in the fields of art, literature, drama, dance, music, photography and painting. SpringSpree also holds a national video gaming competition. Spotlights are events that have been the mainstay in the SpringSpree over the years. These events have drawn large audiences.  The major attraction of the cultural fest is Pronites. Pronites are concerts by famous artistes and this marks the culmination of the fest. SpringSpree has seen the likes of Naresh Iyer, Parikrama and Shobha Naidu perform at the fest. SpringSpree 2011 saw the setting of a world record for the largest footprint painting.

Spring Spree NIT Warangal

The 30th edition of Spring Spree is ready to blast off here in NITW this March with a new theme Rubaroo India. This cultural fest, being one of the best in India, is coming soon with a wide range of competitions, pro-nites and events to bring a lot of fun filled moments which will be remembered throughout your life. Spring Spree provides the platform for all those interested in the fields of dance,music,photography and many more to show off their talents, and get their much-awaited fame, along with lots of prizes!!

The musical event 'Capriccio' (the official western music instrumental competition) is one of the many events in which aspiring musicians can showcase their talents. 'Idol' is yet another event where vocal music skills can be displayed. For those with exuberant linguistic skills, the Literary and Debating Club awaits!! 'Just A Minute'(Jam) gives the opportunity to blah-blah for a minute and pave the way to glory! Debates in Hindi, English and Telugu, a chance to win internship worth Rs.8000 in sport article writing, 'Anthakshari' in Telugu and Poetry Writing are some of the other events.

The Dance and Dramatics Club has a variety of mind blowing events in this year's Rubaroo Spree. Apart from the regular dance competitions, there are events like Action Replay, where participants get a chance rewrite and enact their favorite dialogues! For the photography lovers, Spree is the right place to prove their mettle. With events like Photowalk (where the participants will be given a particular route and they can go on clicking whatever they find on the way), snapshot, Spree Dash, and Director's Cut, one can be sure to get noticed for their talent! 

 For the budding quizmasters, there are many quizzes lined up on topics ranging from business to entertainment, sports to literature. A special quiz to test youth's knowledge on the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India will also be conducted, with many exciting prizes to be won! Coming to the spotlight events in the 30th edition of Spree we have a wide variety of options. IRA, a battlefield for all the rock bands in the country, will keep everyone's attention captured. The fashionistas will get a chance to showcase designs, attitudes and glamour in 'Allure'- a modeling contest. Minute Maid is a chance for the participants to earn large amounts of money and pave their way to fame in just 60 seconds! All that is needed, is a unique and never-seen-before talent! Tear It Up, a b-boying contest, will see various dancers bounce and leap their way to the top and showcase their talents.

 NITMUN, a stage for diplomatic debates, gives an opportunity to put forward realistic ideas and solutions and get the feel of belonging to and participating in a United Nations Organisation's conference. Apart from performing what participants know, in Spring Spree one also gets a chance to learn things through Workshops. This year there are workshop in Ethical Hacking, 3D Animation and Sketching for all the people who have the interest in these fields.
