SpringSpree – NIT Warangal 2013. Register NOW!


It is the time of the year when cultural fests are organized by students all over India and the campuses ring with the sound of music, dance, debates and more. NIT, Warangal is organizing the SpringSpree in February and for the very first time in Warangal, the city of a 1000 pillars, KK will perform in concert.  SpringSpree, sometimes written as Spring Spree is also popularly known as Spree, is the annual cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology, Warangal.
SpringSpree was started in the year 1978 by the students of National Institute of Technology, Warangal. It started as an inter-collegiate annual sports and cultural event held between January and March every year. The cultural fest was a way to showcase the talent from other regions in India. SpringSpree was the first college festival in southern India and was conducted every year till the end of the 90s. SpringSpree was not conducted for a few years in the early 2000s.
Its revival was gradual and started with a mini cultural festival called Elysium in 2006. In 2007 SpringSpree once again began as a annual event. SpringSpree is one of the largest cultural fests of South India.
This year’s SpringSpree promises to be exciting with the addition of more events. SpringSpree conducts over 55 events in a span of 3 days, with various events in the fields of art, literature, drama, dance, music, photography and painting. SpringSpree also holds a national video gaming competition. Spotlights are events that have been the mainstay in the SpringSpree over the years. These events have drawn large audiences.  The major attraction of the cultural fest is Pronites. Pronites are concerts by famous artistes and this marks the culmination of the fest. SpringSpree has seen the likes of Naresh Iyer, Parikrama and Shobha Naidu perform at the fest. SpringSpree 2011 saw the setting of a world record for the largest footprint painting.
