[compilers_nitw] Applications for web team selection

Dear friends,
Sorry to disturb you all with yet another mail to compilers - I know some of you may feel strongly about this - I apologise for the same.

This is to formally announce the setting up of a new Web Design Team for the department website. The team will be entrusted with the upgradation of the currently static website to a dynamic server-side login-based system using Web 2.0 technologies, such as AJAX and will be in ASP/IIS 6.0/Windows Server 2003. Features such as Atom/RSS feeds are also on the anvil. Applications are invited from third year students to be part of this team.

To continue informally, let me inform you that the excercise will now be an autonomous organ of the CSEA, as is the Pointer. The site will be in ASP, have a (possibly) MySQL database backend and have AJAX for its frontend features.

Knowledge of these cutting-edge Web 2.0 technologies will be definitely preferred, but the writer understands that this is not a limiting factor in the selection, being mostly ignorant of these himself. Anybody who has experience, ideas in the following fields may apply for the positions.
  • AJAX
  • MySQL Database (or) any XSQL enabled lightweight database
  • ASP, ASP.NET
  • IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003
  • Any other server side scripting experience, you needn't mention PERL:-)
  • Or a thorough knowledge of HTML, Javascript etc...
  • or experience in any form of web design
  • or any other thing .... if you think you can do it, you definitely can.
Plz submit the application, preferably on paper, with as much relevent detail as possible to me, or Niraj Deosthali or Kunal Nayyar.

Arijit Sengupta

Arijit   5-1-13
Niraj   6-2-16
Kunal 6-3-11

P.S: Anyone from the dept except final yrs can apply, so you may pass on the msg to others as well.
